Lord, we know that you are watching all that's happened here below...
Our country's been attacked by strangers we don't even know.
It came from out of nowhere - tragic scenes did we behold;
Sadness swept across our country as we watched it all unfold.
Not able to prevent it or help in any way...
We shed tears for all the heroes who lost their lives that day.
Lord, we know that as they left this world-so brave did they remain;
You welcomed them with open arms of love to soothe their pain.
The loved ones that were left behind with broken hearts to heal-
Their faith in you, dear Lord, they'll need to get through this ordeal.
And Lord, it's still not over-there's so much more left to do,
We must stand as one in unity and draw our strength from you.
Our country, known for liberty and justice for all
Must face the battle bravely that our freedom will not fall.
They tried to quench our spirit but instead it's growing stronger.
We've announced to all the world we will not take it any longer.
You know our hearts-we'd rather not have to go to war
But we cannot just accept it, this time they've gone too far!
They have pushed us into actions we would rather never take;
Our soldiers now are ready-they will march for freedom's sake.
Their families now are giving hugs and saying their 'goodbyes';
Their hearts are oh, so heavy as the tears stream from their eyes.
But we have no other choice so, Lord, we pray for you to keep
Them safe from harm and danger while in our hearts we weep.
Help us, Lord, to understand and accept that this must be
And protect our precious soldiers on land and on the sea.
Help them to defeat the hate and evils of mankind
And give them courage to pursue the peace we hope to find.
And when the battle's over and the victory has been won
Please bring them all back home again-each and every one.
